Candle Care and Safety
Ensuring the safe and proper use of our candles is our number one priority and we advise you to follow these steps.
Lighting Your Candle
The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to pool all the way to the outer edges of the glass jar. Allowing a full melt pool guarantees an even burn (no tunneling) and maximum fragrance throw. Each time you light your candle after this the wax shouldn’t ‘tunnel’ i.e leave wax around the edges or burn unevenly. We recommend that after the first burn you should try to keep your candle lit for a minimum of 1½ to 2 hours and never more than 4.
Light your candle in a well ventilated area, where draughts and wind won’t disturb the flame. This will keep the flame nice and stable, allowing it to burn correctly and minimise smoking.
Keep your wick trimmed to 5mm. This helps control the size of the flame so as not to burn too fast. Keep the wax pool clear and clear of matches and other debris to avoid flaring.
Putting Out Your Candle
We recommend you use a snuffer to extinguish your candle – blowing it out can cause some of the wick to drop into the wax and slightly damage the wick. Wait for your candle to cool completely before putting the lid back on.
Safety Tips
Never leave a burning candle unattended and burn candles out of reach of children and pets. Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire and always burn candles on a level, heat-resistant stable surface.
Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
Don’t burn a candle all the way down. We recommend leaving 5mm of wax in the container.
